Mission
Statement
The
Mission of Advertising Photographers of America,
Los Angeles is Successful Advertising and Commercial
Photographers.
History
Advertising
Photographers of America (APA) was started in May
1981 by a group of independent and concerned advertising
photographers who realized the necessity of exchanging
information and ideas, resolving common problems and
strengthening the relationships that exist between
photographers, their clients and their suppliers.
Los Angeles Chapter
The
APA Los Angeles Chapter, a member of APA National,
presently services over 1000 members in the Southern
California region.
APA/LA addresses issues, ideas and information which
directly affect advertising and commercial photographer
and other industry members.
APA/LA takes an active role in communicating with
the photographic community as a whole.
What
We Have Already Done For You...
PROTECTED
YOUR RIGHTS: In California, APA was instrumental
in the passage of work-for-hire legislation and also
clarifying ownership rights to works of art.
On
a national level, APA, as an active member of the
Copyright Coalition, helped to introduce proposals
in Washington, D.C. to redefine work-for-hire in
the current federal copyright law and secure exemptions
for photographers in tax law.
