Kevin Merrill works in all facets of people photography including celebrity/entertainment portraiture, fashion, corporate and album covers. 

Clients include: Vogue, Elle, People, T.V. Guide, Pepsi, HomeBase, Stila Cosmetics, Warner Bros.  Television and NFL Properties.  He is publishing a book of his fashion work shot in Paris over the last 6 years.  His work has been honored on several occasions by the Advertising Photographers of America.  He spends a great deal of time with his personal work/fine art photography and has been the subject of several shows and magazine pieces. 
 

1. How did you make your first dollar in photography? 
Selling pictures of Led Zeppelin and The Who to classmates in high school. 

2. What was your strangest day as a photographer? 
Once a client came to pick up her proofs and when she saw them, she burst in to tears, tore them up into little pieces and ran off.  She returned a couple of hours later with the pieces in her hands and told me she thought they were actually pretty good and wanted to order some prints. 

3. Who is your favorite photographer, past or present? 
I have 2: Robert Doisneau and Helmut Newton. 

4. Of all the photographs you’ve seen, which influenced you most? 
Dovima with Elephant by Richard Avedon. 

5. What inspires you, outside of photography? 
My son.
